The UCI is pleased to announce that the next UCI Cycling Esports World Championships will take place on 26 February, 2022.

Following the inaugural UCI World Championships for cycling esports held in December 2020, the UCI Management Committee has approved the shift to the February date for the second edition to coincide with the peak of the virtual cycling season. Indeed, feedback from athletes after the 2020 UCI Cycling Esports World Championships revealed that many regretted the fact that the event came at the end of their traditional off-season rest.

More than 130 athletes from the world over participated in the 2020 UCI Cycling Esports World Championships, which saw South African Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio and German Jason Osborne win the first rainbow jerseys for the discipline.

While the first edition was raced on Zwift’s virtual island of Watopia, the UCI is now launching a bidding process for the hosting platform for the 2022 UCI Cycling Esports World Championships. The selected platform will be announced later in the year.
