2021 Mercedes-Benz UCI Mountain Bike World Cup: Fort William round cancelled and replaced by additional round in Snowshoe

Jun 29, 2021, 15:30 PM

In the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) has to announce that the round of the 2021 Mercedes-Benz UCI Mountain Bike World Cup due to take place in Fort William (Great Britain), which had originally been scheduled for 22 and 23 May, is definitively cancelled.

Organisers were forced to make this decision after concluding that it would be impossible to hold the event to the safety standards imposed by the current pandemic, even later in the year.

After reviewing alternative options following this cancellation, the UCI is pleased to communicate that a replacement round will be held in Snowshoe (USA) on 14-15 September. This round, dedicated purely to downhill racing, will be staged during the week prior to the final of the 2021 Mercedes-Benz UCI Mountain Bike World Cup (cross-country Olympic, cross-country Short Track and downhill) also being organised in Snowshoe (18-19 September).

The UCI would like to thank the organisers and local authorities in both Fort William and the city of Snowshoe for their cooperation in this difficult situation, as well as the riders, teams and all parties concerned for their understanding.
