Mountain Bike Eliminator: Simon Rogier’s American dream
The second round of the UCI Mountain Bike Eliminator World Cup, in Columbus (USA), saw a new winner in the form of French athlete Simon Rogier. Ninth in the opening round of the series in Volterra (Italy) in May, Rogier demonstrated his top form through all races of the Georgian stopover to take victory.
“The American dream exists for me,” he wrote on social media after the event. “I am really happy to have achieved this goal.”
His win moves him up to third in the overall standings behind fellow Frenchman and round one winner Lorenzo Serres (fourth in Columbus) and Spain’s Alberto Mingorance Fernandez who finished second in the two opening rounds of the UCI World Cup. The American crowd was able to celebrate a podium spot in Columbus with Seth Kemp’s third place.
The third round of the UCI Mountain Bike Eliminator World Cup will be held in Waregem, Belgium, on June 24 and 25.
